About Choa Chu Kang

Choa Chu Kang has evolved from a rural settlement of Chinese immigrants in early 19th century into a hub of residential complex with all amenities required for a modern urban lifestyle. The name of the place is derived from Chinese immigrants who were called "kang chu", where ‘kang' refers to river and ‘chu' refers to the clan name of the first headman in charge of plantations. The area is about 6 sq Km with an estimated population of 110,000. Out of 580 hectares of land developed by Housing Development Board (HDB), 52% is residential area where about 35000 flats have been built. Although most of these flats are 4-bedrooms and 5-bedrooms, there are also some 4700 units of executive type flats available.

The HDB Estate of Choa Chu Kang has all the basic and modern amenities such as shopping malls and recreational, educational and healthcare facilities. It is well connected by all available modes of transport. Like many other planned HDB Estates, various amenities are found within close proximity, making it a very convenient place to live in.

Location Specifics

Choa Chu Kang is located in the Western part of the city. The neighboring districts are Sungei Kadut (District 25), Teck Whye (District 23) and Woodlands (District 27). It is also near the Bukit Panjang HDB Estate.

The area has been divided into seven sub-zones for the purpose of better administration. These are:

  • Pang Sua


The area is well planned with ample recreational and entertainment junctions, making it a very attractive place to live in. With more housing complexes slated to develop especially around stations (LRT and MRT) the area is definitely growing as an attractive property destination.

Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange

Residents of Choa Chu Kang HDB Estate can use an integrated and modern network of road and railway transport.

The LRT (Light Rapid Transport) and MRT (Mass Rapid Transport) is a fully automated mode of transport which starts and terminates at Choa Chu Kang MRT Station. Choa Chu Kang MRT station and Yew Tee MRT station are convenient stops for HDB residents
